This room was named in honor of former Maryland basketball coach Lefty Driesell, and his classic response to a reporter asking about the women's center's views on the infamous Herman Veal incident. |

Hoops Season is Here!
With another unsatisfying football season coming to an end (welcom home, Ralph!), now's the time of year all Terrapin fans eagerly await: ACC hoops season begins next week! Maryland returns every scholarship player from last year's second-place ACC squad, along with two newcomers who are expected to contribute right away.
We fans in Atlanta will have plenty of opportunities to watch the Terps. Nearly every game this year will be televised (call me for up-to-date viewing schedules at the Charles G. Driesell Men's Center). I'll be attending games at Ga. Tech and UNC; and the ACC Tournament will be in the Georgia Dome this March. GO TERPS!

Beer Appreciation
I enjoy a refreshing Budweiser as much as the next guy (if the next guy is Norm, from "Cheers"). But those who think that Bud (or, heaven forbid, Miller Lite) is all there is to beer probably also think that Pizza Hut is a great Italian restaurant.
I love a good home brew, and try to always have a fresh batch on tap behind the bar in my basement. We just finished my annual batch of Christmas Ale, and I now have a vat of maple porter fermenting.
When I want to sample a professional craft brewer's work, there's no better place to visit than Taco Mac (see photo at right) in Sandy Springs, Ga.

Baltimore Grabs the NFL Spotlight
Seventeen years after Bob Irsay made his infamous midnight run, Baltimore's faithful gridiron fans are rewarded with a championship team. After enduring countless snubs by the NFL (thanks a lot, Tagliabue and Cooke), and supporting USFL and CFL teams, the city not only has an NFL team, but is back in the Super Bowl for the first time since 1971.
