Our New House In Bear Paw
We recently bought at house in the Bear Paw development on Hiawassee Lake in western North Carolina. It's about 15 miles west of Murphy, NC, a two hour drive from Atlanta.

Scenic View
This is a view of the lake from the road about a half mile from our house. Unfortunately our view isn't this good; but we plan to cut some trees and we will have a decent view. When boating on the lake, we have a mountain view in all directions. |

Great Room
The stone fireplace is one of our favorite features of the house. (We'll be moving the TV once we get some furniture.) Sliding glass doors on both sides open up to a good-sized screened-in porch with a lake view.

View From Loft
In addition to a bedroom on the main level, there is a loft that overlooks the great room & fireplace. |

Staircase & Ceiling
We like the spiral staircase, although it scares us a little when the girls go up & down (and we can't keep them off it). The ceiling is currently painted "OSB" (oriented strand board -- a form of particle board). We are having it covered with tongue-and-groove pine, and leaving the false beams. We'll probably paint the paneling.

Downstairs
This room also needs some work, but we really like the fireplace here too. We'll put in a sleeper sofa, and make this the guest quarters. |
|
Outside
Here's the house as it looks from the street (opposite side from lake). Nuthin' fancy. We're not crazy about the looks of the vinyl siding, but it will at least be easy to maintain.

The Infamous Deck
Gee, I sure would hate to fall from there! |
